Kosuke Takagi, Managing Director

Kosuke is the founder and the Managing Director of
Essentia Studio LLC.

Before establishing Essentia Studio in May of 2018, he was with Ant Capital Partners, Co. Ltd., a private equity fund manager in Japan, between 2006 and 2018. There he made a number of investments in majority as well as minority equity stakes in SMEs. He also led fund raising processes and investor relationship efforts. At one time, he resided as the general manager of business administration in one of the portfolio company going through a turnaround phase.

Prior to joining Ant Capital, he was the acting CFO at Anicom International Inc. (now, Anicom Holdings, Inc.), a Japanese venture firm that operates health insurance business for pets, where he raised more than USD50 million from several leading VCs as well as large business firms. His prior experiences include business development at another Japanese venture firm, M&A and corporate finance advisory at Credit Suisse First Boston (now, Credit Suisse Securities) and Chase Securities (now, JP Morgan Securities), as well as strategic consulting at Andersen Consulting (now, Accenture). He started his career at the Bank of Tokyo in 1990.

He was born in Kobe, Japan, and spent six years in New York City during his childhood and early teens. He also resided in Boston during business school. 

He graduated with a B.S. Engineering from Osaka University and a MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration (Harvard Business School, Class of 1995).
